Behind the sound
An event label within the destruction of democracy
The Bundesarchiv lists film material relating to Hitler’s Sportpalast address of 10 February 1933, including Hitlers Aufruf an das deutsche Volk and material within Deutschland erwacht. These records offer comparisons for the event named in the collection title. They do not establish that either supplied file comes from those films or contains a complete speech.
The address belonged to the consolidation of dictatorship. After Hitler became chancellor, the Nazi government restricted the opposition press and used police powers and party violence against opponents. Repression and intimidation shaped the March 1933 election and the later Enabling Act. This setting is essential to understanding the named event without presenting it as ordinary, unrestricted electoral debate.
Nazi propaganda circulated through film, sound and print, and the surviving record contains gaps. A later compilation may combine material from different carriers or dates. Track 01 and Track 02 therefore remain unidentified: the labels cannot establish original divisions, voices, source media or whether the files belong to the same speech.
Presented for critical historical study of Nazi propaganda, aggression and repression. Nazi ideology and violence are not endorsed; no speech passages are reproduced.
